NBA Udu Branch Elects New EXCO As Albert Adehor Ochuko Emerges Chairman

The Udu Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has conducted its branch elections on Sunday 7, 2026, resulting in the emergence of a new leadership team to steer the affairs of the association for the coming term.

In a keenly contested election held in a peaceful atmosphere, Wetland Hotel Mofor, Barr. Albert Adehor Ochuko emerged victorious as Chairman after polling 85 votes, defeating fellow contestants Barr. Avbenegha Francis Ejomafuvwe and Barr. Akugha Uzeizi Uzezi.

The election, which attracted the participation of members of the legal profession within the branch, was described by observers as transparent and reflective of the democratic ideals of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Other members elected into various executive positions as returned unopposed include; Diemiruayen Gift Clarke – Vice Chairman, Omage David Omole – Secretary General, Benedict Emoghene Modjot – Assistant Secretary General, Oghenesere Esther Oghenebrohien – Treasurer and Miss Oghenetejiri Victory Daghagba – Financial Secretary.

Speaking after the exercise, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Barr. Ese Evbierhurhoma, commended members of the branch for their orderly conduct throughout the electoral process. He described the election as peaceful, credible, free and fair, and transparent, noting that the process demonstrated the commitment of members to upholding the principles of justice, integrity, and democracy.

Also serving on the Electoral Committee was Barr. Rume Ono-sorbue, who functioned as the Secretary of the Electoral Committee.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Barr. Albert Adehor Ochuko, expressed profound gratitude to members of the branch for the confidence reposed in him through their votes.

He pledged to provide inclusive and purposeful leadership aimed at promoting the welfare of members and advancing the objectives of the association.

“I sincerely thank everyone for the votes and the confidence bestowed on me to lead our great branch. I also congratulate my co-contestants for their courage and commitment throughout this process. The election is over, and now is the time for unity and collective progress,” he stated.

Barr. Ochuko further emphasized that his administration would be one built on collaboration, stressing that every member of the branch would have a role to play in the growth and development of the NBA Udu Branch.

“No one is left out. I will work with everyone as we strive together to move the branch forward and strengthen the bonds of professional fellowship among members,” he added.

The successful conduct of the election has been widely applauded by members, who expressed optimism that the new executive committee would usher in a new era of effective leadership, enhanced professional development, and improved welfare for legal practitioners within the branch.

The Nigerian Bar Association remains the foremost professional body for legal practitioners in Nigeria, and branch elections continue to serve as a vital mechanism for ensuring accountable and representative leadership at the grassroots level of the association.
